While we as REALTORS are able to dive into local, real-time market data, we don’t actually know what’s going to happen in the future. What we do know is that over time, human behavior tends to remain the same, and often that behavior is to wait to make decisions far longer than the window of opportunity that is presented. We cannot predict the future, but we do have a pretty good idea of what most people will do when presented with a big decision. They’ll sit…on the fence. It’s often a costly byproduct of inaction.
Mainstream media reports facts about 2-4 months behind when they were actually happening. Your best source for up to date information about how the local market is performing is to develop a relationship with someone who has access to real-time, up to the minute data, and your best action when you have the information in your hands, is to act upon that information.
If anyone finds themselves on the fence between two directions, they can count on one certainty. Absolutely nothing will happen until a decision is made, and the worst place you can find yourself is sitting on the fence.
